In the layered calcium ruthenate Ca2RuO4, the interplay between electron interactions fosters exotic physics. As a result of this complexity, Ca2RuO4 is highly susceptible to perturbations, such as the strain induced in epitaxial thin films. We propose to perform a comparative β-NMR study of thin film and single crystal Ca2RuO4 in order to better understand the role of spin-orbit coupling.
