We are studying free radicals formed by muonium addition to organophosphorus compounds. The equivalent radicals containing H are short-lived and in general can not be detected by more conventional means. Detecting and identifying the muoniated radicals tells us about the reaction mechanisms of novel materials being used as new synthetic reagents, catalysts, and polymerization initiators.
