Abstract

Oxygen deficient crystals of SrTiO3-x will be studied using muon spectroscopy and beta-NMR. The presence of a specific type of oxygen-vacancy-induced defect structure has been shown to lead to a photo-active magnetic state. This study will determine the volume-fraction of magnetic defect states using a combination of bulk and surface sensitive techniques. We aim to investigate whether optical manipulation can be achieved over their local magnetic properties.
